Told not to let her sleep thru

This will probably annoy all those with wakeful babies, but my eight week old daughter is a persistant night sleeper already and my cyh nurse has told me not to let her sleep more than five hours. She is quite wakeful during the day, and content, feeding every two to three hours. By about 8pm she is ready to sleep, and will go 7 to 9 hours through the night. She is gaining weight, wets plenty of nappies and seems really happy, so why should I have to wake her and lose a good night's sleep resettling? Any advice or thoughts would be great, I feel guilty every time I wake up in the morning and she has slept through!

Hi mummy2rhea

I don't think you

Hi mummy2rhea

I don't think you should wake your baby up - the fact that she is having good sleep means that her little tummy is full and she is very content. And like u mentioned, she has plenty of wet nappies. So while she is sleeping for so many hours, you enjoy !!! I wouldn't change anything if i were you. When she is hungry, she will wake up.

Hi mummy2rhea, There is no

Hi mummy2rhea,

There is no way I would wake your daughter up. My daughter has slept throu the night from 8 weeks. If she is gaining weight and has plenty of nappies then there is no worries. I always say if it ain't broken then why fix it. Do what you feel is the best thing for you and your family

cheers

Hi I agree if your bub is

Hi I agree if your bub is sleeping through that means she is content and well fed. My all did that and when they woke up is was during grow spurts and teething (which start at 4 months with all three) Enjoy it.

I wouldn't wake her. My

I wouldn't wake her. My sister just had her first child, and the midwives told her that she should feed every 4 hours. Being a new mother, she was setting her alarm and waking up during the night to ensure he had a feed. She thought he would be hungry. When bubby is hungry she will let you know. Make the most of it will she does sleep. Both my daughters sleep 8-10 hr nights from 1 month. Once they reached the teething stage (6mth) they would wake up on the odd occasion.
